Meeting information

Welcome to HAQAST3! We’ll be meeting November 28-29, 2017, at  Columbia University’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory.

This workshop aims to bring the HAQAST PIs and members of the public into close discussion.

The public portion of our meeting, open to all, will be from 9AM-5PM 11/28 and 9AM-12PM 11/29, in the Monell building (see campus map).

The public meeting will feature interactive presentations, talks, roundtables, and a poster session.

 

Remote Access

The meeting will be accessible via remote access. Check back here on the day of the meeting for a remote access link.

(NOTE: if you are planning to join us remotely, there’s no need to register.)

For scientists, students, HAQAST members, and public stakeholders:

We invite you to propose a short (5 min.) presentation of your organization’s work, or join our poster session. All participants are encouraged to bring posters even if speaking. POSTER DIMENSIONS are 40 inches x 30 inches, either landscape or portrait.  The setup includes an easel with a plain white posterboard that can be flipped either horizontal ( 40 wide x 30 tall ) or vertical ( 30 wide x 40 tall  ) so presenters are free to choose their preferred layout.

Hotel

A room block is available at the Holiday Inn Orangeburg in Rockland County, NY.  The rate is $115, including taxes. Please make reservations online via the group block booking link or by calling the front desk (845) 359-7000. Be sure to mention “HAQAST 3” or the three letter code HAQ. You’ll need to book your room by 10/27/2017 to get the group rate.

Getting There

Airports.

Lamont visitors can use any of the area airports: Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, LaGuardia or the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.

Ground Transportation. 

We recommend coordinating with colleagues if you will be arriving at similar times at the area airports. Here are two recommended livery companies:

Meals

Lunch will be served both days in the Comer building (see campus map). Coffee breaks will be mid-morning and mid-afternoon. There is no breakfast, so be sure to eat before arriving. Dinners will be on your own. Scroll down for a list of recommended restaurants that are near the hotel.

Poster Reception

You are welcome to join our poster reception, the evening of 11/28 directly after the formal session begins, in the lobby of the Monell building (see campus map).
